Patience Jonathan Discharged, Set To Return Home Today

Ailing Nigeria’s first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has been discharged from the German hospital that she was receiving treatment, a source at the hospital confirmed to our foreign correspondent on Tuesday night.
The source, who preferred not to be mentioned, said in a brief telephone conversation that the ailing first lady demanded to be discharged, and the hospital accepted her request, though she was yet to fully recuperate. She reportedly left the hospital around 11am yesterday and was taken straight to an undisclosed location by senior authorities of the Nigerian embassy in Germany.
However, a source at the presidency said that Mrs. Jonathan’s health had improved, insisting that she is fit to return to the country.
The source added that necessary arrangements had been put in place to receive the first lady at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 2pm today by top government officials.
According to the source, some wives of state governors, female politicians and activists are now in Abuja to give the first lady a rousing welcome.
The source said, “I can confirm to you that the First Lady is set to return to the country today at about 2pm. I can also tell you that the wives of state governors, politicians and other well wishers are now in Abuja to give her a rousing welcome”
When asked about the name of the airline that would bring the first lady back home and the details of Mrs Jonathan’s ailment, the source replied that she could not disclose the name of the airline for security reasons.
