In the part of the world where I come from, women are often tagged as the victims of love. It’s usually from one story to the other. For many women, that continues in the cycle of their whole lives.

Now, tell me what’s wrong with that?I want to believe that there is something wrong with the way these women think and so, they carry themselves in a way that makes men behave to them in a certain way, thereby unconsciously conditioning themselves to remain the victims.

I have heard of and seen men who dated women and abused them to  stupor; thereafter dumping them and dating other women who they virtually worshiped.

Again, I would want to think that there is something wrong with a lot of us. More women get heartbroken and suicidal because of men and indeed the guys feel so cool about this. What went wrong?

We have killed our self-worth really bad and it shows in the way these men behave to us. We need to redeem ourselves by employing wisdom. You hear of a man and a woman in a relationship and soon after we hear the woman saying she was used and dumped.

33yr Old Mechanic Absconds As Wife Gives Birth To Triplets

A 33 year old auto-mobile mechanic, Yemi Oyeniyi, has absconded after his wife Esther delivered triplets in Abeokuta.

It was gathered that Oyeniyi became uncomfortable four months ago shortly after the result of scan showed that his wife was carrying three babies.

It was also revealed that the couple had two children before the triplets.

According to sources, the woman was delivered of the babies who were all females last Monday and that their naming ceremony was organised by the family’s church members.

Speaking, the mother of the triplets at Ogun State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, yesterday, Esther said her husband started behaving strangely when he got the result of the scan on June 3, 2012.

Esther Oyeniyi, 27, who is a teacher at a private nursey and primary school in Abeokuta, said her husband’s behaviour before her delivery became worrisome to her making her to relocate to a church at Okeyidi, also in Abeokuta.

Narrating her ordeal, she said she was brought to the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta by church authorities for admission on October 19,2012 and later put to bed on October 29,2012.

The mother of the triplets lamented that, since Oyeniyi left their Okeyidi matrimonial home, his mobile phone had been switched off.

She said her husband’s family members reside in Iganna town of Oyo State.

According to her, the church organised the naming ceremony, as neither the run away husband nor any member of his family was available.

11-Year-Old Boy Caught Having Anal Sex With His 9-Year-Old Schoolmate

An 11-year-old pupil at Waddilove Primary School in Marondera was yesterday convicted of sodomising also known as anal/abnormal sex with a nine-year-old pupil at the same institution.
Marondera magistrate Ms Mavis Kadumba sentenced the boy to three years imprisonment, which was wholly suspended for five years, and three strokes of cane to be administered by a designated officer.

Ms Kadumba also ruled that the boy be surrendered to the care of a probation officer for the next three years. According to the State led by prosecutor Ms Memory Mandudzo, the incident occurred on July 18 this year at around 7 pm. Ms Mandudzo told the court that the juvenile left his dormitory and proceeded to the junior pupils' dormitory.

He took advantage of the darkness in the dormitory and grabbed the complainant, stripped off his shorts and forced him to lie on his stomach. The juvenile proceeded to sodomise the complainant, who cried out for help.

One of the pupils in the dormitory lit his torch and recognised the accused, who then hid under a bed. The complainant later reported the matter to his class teacher, who in turn filed a police report leading to the boy's arrest.

A medical examination report carried out on the complainant at Marondera provincial hospital was produced in court as evidence.

Celebrating 10 years in Nollywood

I never knew I would get to this height in life. My intention was just to act and enjoy the career. I had always wanted to be an actor. I used to watch movies a lot and I would say to myself that one day, I would be an actor. In fact, my aim was to become an international actor.

Even in my days in church during our block rosary, I used to act a lot. I was a part of the drama group. I knew this was what I wanted to do. I always had the dream. I know that God has always had something special for me and whatever I touch becomes big. When I met my brother Chinedu, I knew we were going to be big. I knew that the combination of the two of us would be a blockbuster.

So when the producer of Aki na Ukwa came up with the movie, it became big. That was where we started. It is 10 years now. In everything I do in life, I always believe that God is a part of it. God has a way of doing things. He can turn around any situation. I give glory to God for putting me in the position I am today. In my own little way, I worked hard and I have been focused.

Akwa Ibom: First Female Deputy Governor, Valerie Ebe Sworn In

The Akwa Ibom Chief Judge, Justice Idongesit Ntem-Isua, in Uyo on Saturday swore in, Valerie Ebe, as the first female Deputy Governor of the state.

Mrs Ebe took over from the former Deputy Governor, Nsima Ekere, who resigned his appointment on Oct. 31 shortly before his impeachment proceeding climaxed.

Mrs Ebe’s nomination was confirmed by the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly on the previous day following her nomination by the state governor, Godswill Akpabio.

Although the governor say gender was not a consideration in her appointment, he admits a section of the public would “definitely see her as being at the vanguard of our faith for more women participation in governance.

“By her appointment, we now have a triumvirate of women in key positions like the Chief Judge, Head of Civil Service and Deputy Governor,” the governor said.

Mrs Ebe is the first woman in the 25-year history of the state to hold the deputy governor’s position.

Ebe, from Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of the state, was born on March 26, 1947 and had served as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and Commissioner for Environment.

She had also served as People Democratic Party, PDP’s legal adviser

17-year-old girl donates to orphanage home

Moved by the plight of children living in the Lagos State Motherless Babies Home (LSMBH), Lekki, Lagos, the founder of Saratu Kitchener Foundation, SKF, Miss Saratu Kitchener, 17, last week, gave out playground fittings to the orphanage home.

The gesture took many by suprise as they could not believe how Kitchener single handedly raised the fund to purchase the playing fittings.

The home with 116 children was established in 1997 by Lagos State government in collaboration with the Lions Club to provide care for abandoned and abused children. LSMBH is solely responsible for the mental and social development of every child in its custody.

Speaking to Sunday Vanguard, Kitchener said, “ I was struck by stories of new born babies being abandoned just outside this home in the middle of the night I began to see how it is that Nigeria’s myriad problems hit children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, hardest.”

3yr-old girl found dead in toilet; teacher, nannies arrested

A three-year old girl identified as Imiefan Omokaro was on Thursday afternoon found dead in the toilet of her school, known as Kingdom Heritage Model School along Sapele road in Benin City.

She was said to have fallen into a bucket half filled with water.
A source said a teacher who found the little girl at the toilet raised alarm and the girl was taken to the Winners Chapel Church, owners of the school, where pastors engaged in marathon prayers to revive the girl.

It was learnt that when the mother of the child came to the school to pick her daughter, the teacher said they were looking for the child.
The source said it was after two hours that the child was taken to a hospital where a nurse on duty confirmed her dead.

Father of the girl who gave his name as Omokaro Jolly said he dropped his daughter at school hale and healthy and was surprised that the school authorities could not tell him what happened to his daughter.

He said his wife called him at about 3:45 to inform him that their daughter was missing and when he got to the school, he was asked to go to the hospital where he saw his child stone dead.

Covenant University is 10 Years Old, Creates Faculties of Law and Medicine

                                

Bishop David Oyedepo, the Chancellor of Covenant University, has said that the university will kick off studies in law and medicine before the end of 2014. 

Oyedepo said this at a press briefing announcing the 10th year anniversary celebration of the university.

According to him; “Designs and details for constructing faculties of law and medicine are ongoing. By 2013, latest 2014, the faculty of law will kick off. A large portion of our property is being developed to build a world class teaching hospital that will enhance medical services.”

When the arrangements are finalized, he said, these will be at Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State and Landmark University, its sister university in Kwara State.

Oyedepo also used the opportunity to announce that Living Faith Church is set to begin two new universities: “As at 2006, we had seven universities in our 25-year plan; four in Nigeria, and three in other African countries. Construction for the third university in Nigeria, Crown University, will begin in January. Crown University will be based in Calabar and will focus on maritime studies.
